Today, The Jo Cox Foundation has written together with the CSPL to all parties in Westminster, outlining our ongoing work on the Joint Standard of Conduct for all political parties and highlighting positive behaviours that candidates can pledge to in order to help contribute to a respectful election campaign.

Leading by Example: Batley and Spen
On the 19th November, all the candidates standing in Jo’s former constituency became the first to sign the pledge. We believe that committing to this pledge will help us all send a strong, positive message, as well as acting as a reference point for candidates who encounter intimidation on the campaign trail.You can read more about it here.
The Joint Standard of Conduct
This pledge is part of the Foundation’s ongoing work with the CSPL and all political parties in Westminster on the Joint Standard of Conduct, one of the key recommendations of the Intimidation in Public Life report published in December 2017. The Joint Standard seeks to agree on a responsible framework for legitimate public debate and to help protect candidates during an election campaign.
